    The Grand Strand Area Transportation Study (GSATS) has drafted a 2010-2015 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) which is available for review and comment through July 26, 2009. You will find a copy at Town Hall, the Public Libraryor click here to view a copy.

    Beginning this Sunday, Surfside Beach will be hosting Sunday Serenades at the pier from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. (every Sunday from June 28th to September 6th). The series will feature some of the best acoustical singers and songwriters from the Grand Strand area. This Sunday on the June 28, come listen to Glenn “Houndog” Hanson with selections from Americana genre (2 – 2:30 PM), Joe Moyer performing Classic Oldies (2:30 – 3:15 PM) and Lola – from Moondance performing Smooth Rock (3:15 – 4:00 PM). >     Ground has finally been broken for our new fire station. The project began Thursday as demolition was started on one of the vehicle bays. Go directly to Fire Page and view our new fire vehicle and dedication photos and information. We will be adding a construction progress page for our new fire house in the next week so keep checking back!

>      The Town and Director Andy Christenson recently recognized Detective Matthew Prock for his efforts, dedication and innovative investigative techniques in crime solving and perpetrator apprehension.

>     Surfside Beach has been selected by the EPA as one of two locations in which to conduct water studies to develop and evaluate rapid water quality tests this coming summer. More info.

>     On the 3rd and 4th Saturday of each month the Town will be available to deliver 4 or 8 yard dump truck loads of dirt for $40.00 to town residents. Every 3rd Saturday town residents will be allowed to load topsoil into their own pickup truck for free. Shovels will be available at the loading site. The Town will deliver within a 5 mile radius an 8 yard load of topsoil to out of town residents or commercial dealers for $80.00 per load. Anyone interested should call 913-6111.
