Corporal 

Police Department

Employees in this position usually work in an armed, uniformed capacity, to patrol the corporate limits of Surfside Beach (and off-site Town owned properties) to prevent and/or detect crime or disturbances of the peace, warn, cites, or arrest violators as appropriate pursuant to town Ordinance and State law, conduct basic initial investigations, and render aid/service to the public as appropriate in accordance to generally accepted professional standards.  Employees generally work rotating 12-hour shifts but may be required to work other shift arrangements as required by staffing levels.  Additionally, the Corporal supervises the activities of Police Officers assigned to their team. 

Salary Minimum $44,805.00

Victim / Witness Advocate 

Police Department

Employees in this position work in a part-time capacity. Employees serve as a victim-witness advocate and provide technical assistance and support to officers. Employees generally work office hours as scheduled and required by the Administrative Division Supervisor. Additional out-of-office work hours may be required and are worked as needed to return phone calls, emails, and respond to requests for assistance. Employees may be required to respond to scenes or facilities to assist victims and officers after business hours and are subject to call-in and an on-call rotation. Employees are required to attend hearings, court appearances, meetings, training, and other obligations as required to maintain certifications and/or deemed necessary by the Administrative Division Supervisor.


Pay Range: $14.42 - $20.48 per hour

Communications Officer 

Police Dept

Employees in this position perform skilled duties related to Police communications. Police communications officers use phone and radio systems to receive, evaluate, and transmit emergency and routine traffic and messages to field units. The position requires specialized training and certifications. Employees are responsible for emergency and non-emergency radio, phone, and person-to-person communications with Police staff and civilians. Employees also perform various clerical tasks to include data entry, filing, and reporting. Employees generally work rotating 12-hour shifts but may be required to work other shift arrangements as required by staffing levels. 

Salary Minimum $34,505.00
