Town Clerk 

Administration

Assists municipal government with administrative support by performing duties as set forth in Town Code.  Under limited supervision, provides highly responsible administrative support to the Town Council and the Town Administrator. Prepares, records, attests and maintains official actions of the Town Council. Coordinates and assists with all matters related to council meetings, hearings, and workshops. Attends all council meetings; records, and transcribes minutes. Serves as the custodian of official records and the election officer. Coordinates and administers codification of the Town Code of Ordinances. Performs extensive research of records at the request of Town Council, Town Administrator, staff, and the general public. Maintains effective and efficient office operations. Reports to both the Town Council and the Town Administrator.

Building Official 

PB&Z Department

To perform required building inspections on all types of building construction in all trades.  Reviews all plans to assure compliance with the current International Building Codes and all other required local, state and federal codes/laws.  Reviews all stormwater plans for compliance with local, state and federal codes/laws.  Provide responsible and complex assistance to the public regarding code questions and plan submittal requirements.

Salary Range: $44,805 - $63,623

Communications Officer 

Police Dept

Employees in this position perform skilled duties related to Police communications. Police communications officers use phone and radio systems to receive, evaluate, and transmit emergency and routine traffic and messages to field units. The position requires specialized training and certifications. Employees are responsible for emergency and non-emergency radio, phone, and person-to-person communications with Police staff and civilians. Employees also perform various clerical tasks to include data entry, filing, and reporting. Employees generally work rotating 12-hour shifts but may be required to work other shift arrangements as required by staffing levels. 

Salary Range $33,500 - $47,570

Police Officer 

Police Department

Employees in this position usually work in an armed, uniformed capacity, to patrol the corporate limits of Surfside Beach (and off-site Town owned properties) to prevent and/or detect crime or disturbances of the peace, warn, cites, or arrest violators as appropriate pursuant to town Ordinance and State law, conduct basic initial investigations, and render aid/service to the public as appropriate in accordance to generally accepted professional standards.  Employees generally work rotating 12-hour shifts but may be required to work other shift arrangements as required by staffing levels.
