Departmental Monthly Report
The Surfside Beach Municipal Court handles misdemeanor criminal and traffic offenses. Bench trials are held on Wednesdays twice a month at 4:30pm. Jury trials are held three times a year; roster meetings are held quarterly. The Court staff consists of Associate Judge/Clerk of Court Valerie Wentz, part-time Judge Derek Blanton, and Deputy Clerk of Court/Ministerial Recorder Valerie Riley. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm unless otherwise posted. Forms of payment accepted are cash, money order and certified check – no personal checks are accepted. There is an after hours drop slot located next to the office door for fine payments. If your payment is overdue and you need the DL-53 form to take to the DMV, you will need to come to the office during business hours to pay your fine.
